Why we give
OurFather exists to help Canadians find better gifts for the dads in their lives. But a good gift is a small, once-a-year gesture — and a lot of Canadian dads are quietly struggling the other 364 days of it. Close to three-quarters of the roughly 4,000 suicide deaths in Canada each year are men, and over a third of Canadian men say they won't talk to anyone about how they're actually doing. That gap between what a Father's Day card says and what a lot of dads are carrying is the reason this page exists.
Who we support
We picked one organization instead of rotating through several, because we'd rather build one real relationship than spread a small amount thin across a dozen causes.
Hi Dad Foundation
Hi Dad Foundation is a registered Canadian national charity focused on men's mental health and families. Formed in 2022, its flagship initiative is Father's Day on the Hill — an annual, non-partisan event bringing together Members of Parliament and mental-health stakeholders to put men and fathers specifically on the policy agenda. It's about as directly aligned with a site called OurFather as a cause gets.
hidadfoundation.ca →The commitment
OurFather sets aside 10% of its net affiliate profit each year for this program — enough to be a real, talkable-about number, while still leaving the business room to reinvest in content, SEO, and actually staying online. As the site grows, so does the number: at $100,000 in annual affiliate revenue, that's $10,000 supporting Canadian dads; at $500,000, it's $50,000.

This program is just getting started, so there's no donation total to publish yet — and we'd rather show nothing than make up a number. Once the first donation goes out, the exact amount and a link to proof of it will replace this paragraph. If you're reading this and it still says "not yet," that means we haven't updated it — email us and ask.
How this connects to the gift guides
This giving commitment is funded out of OurFather's overall profits — it isn't tied to any single purchase or affiliate link, and clicking a specific link doesn't direct money to Hi Dad Foundation on its own. Our Amazon Associates disclosure (and every other affiliate disclosure on this site) stands on its own: OurFather earns a commission when you buy something through a link here, at no extra cost to you. What OurFather does with its profits afterward is a separate decision, made once a year, not a per-purchase promise.
